GIS Services

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are used for capturing, storing, analyzing, managing, and presenting data which are spatially referenced. CSG GIS staff utilize tools that allow them to create interactive queries, analyze spatial information, edit data, generate maps, and present the results of all these operations.


  • Create and maintain spatial databases
  • Prepare data and aerial imagery for distribution of survey data over the web
  • Maintain GIS web portal hardware and software
  • Process and analyze various forms of digital imagery to assess their use in the display, detection, and mapping of impacts

  • USDA Forest Health Technology Enterprise Team (FHTET)

    For 5 years, CSG provided support to the USDA’s Forest Health Technology Enterprise Team (FHTET) in the areas of: GIS/Image processing, remote sensing, GIS database & application development, database development/administration, data architecture development, project management, technology requirements definition, system analysis, system design, programming, testing for new software applications, web development, maintenance of deployed applications and document publishing. Software development & office automation functions for operating system software including database management systems, application version control & quality assurance, access methods, integration of software products, simulations modeling, system protection, security, data communications software, equipment installation & configuration and network management.

  • DOE Western Area Power Administration

    Since 2006, CSG GIS specialists have supported the DOE’s Western Area Power Administration by: providing survey skills using mapping grade survey tools and data loggers; developing databases; collecting & validating data; engineering drawings; gathering field data using traditional & GPS survey tools in field situations; providing computer-based engineering survey & GIS programs; and performing manual survey tasks using an EDM or transit for staking structures, alignments, or guy arrangements.
